If buying a home, it is always good to ask if the sewer lateral connection and the main have been cleaned and close circuit televised. This is also important for the environment of course! If you own an older home, you may not have a clean-out installed on your lateral connection. This is an integral part of your home's sanitation system, providing easy accessibility to the lateral connection for servicing.
